The 26-year-old has joined the Bluerchiati permanently after two seasons on loan from Fiorentina.
But with his future secure, and Sinisa Mihajlovic as Coach, the defender believes the future is looking up.
“I’m helping the younger ones settle in,” he told Sky Sport Italia.
“I want to set an example. The average age of our squad has dropped, but I think it’ll be better that way.
“We’re doing a lot of ball work already. But I really believe what we’re doing at the moment will help us.”
De Silvestri also hopes to regain a place in the Italy squad with some good club performances.
“I want to be near the Azzurri squad. However, it’s a good group, so I know it’s going to be tough to break in.”
