Daniele De Rossi admits “Lazio played better today, there’s no doubt about it,” and Roma have been struggling for a while.
The 3-0 Derby della Capitale defeat was a heavy blow for the Giallorossi, especially as a win would’ve put them in joint fourth place with Inter.
“We must analyse this match carefully, especially as we have a very important game coming up in the Champions League,” the captain told Sky Sport Italia.

“Lazio played better today, there’s no doubt about it. We put together a lot of points over the last month, but admittedly we struggled for the victories against Frosinone and Bologna. Hopefully we can get back on track.
“It’s not the first derby we’ve lost, these things happen and we just have to keep going. I don’t want to minimise it or say that it doesn’t hurt, but we really need to focus on FC Porto so we can get through to the Champions League quarter-finals. If we do that, it’ll also change our vision of the season and our current form.
“Lazio always seemed to have the momentum, including in challenges and individual duels. It’s a quality team and they had a very interesting performance.”
Eusebio Di Francesco complained there was a mental fragility within Roma and De Rossi agreed.
“This alternation of good and bad performances is obvious and it happened last season too. I don’t know if determination was the key, but Lazio are a strong side and reducing it all to just desire to win is unfair.”
