Marten de Roon is “excited” to return to Atalanta, and looks forward to playing in the Europa League.
The midfielder has arrived in Milan to complete a return to the Orobici, after Middlesbrough were relegated from the English Premier League last season.
It’s believed Boro have accepted a €15m bid, and the Dutchman arrived at Malpensa this afternoon.
“It’s all a bit odd, I’ll be very happy when it’s all done and I’ll enjoy Italy again,” De Roon told Sky.

“I haven’t talked with [Coach Gian Piero] Gasperini yet, but I’ve spoken to the President and I know the Coach is content.
“I’ve talked to some of my teammates and I’m looking forward to seeing them again. I’m excited, I hope to see them all today.
“I heard from everyone at Atalanta last year, but also the staff. They had an amazing season, the best ever, what they achieved was crazy.
“I can’t wait to play in the Europa League, it’s a beautiful thing and we hope to do well in Europe, but also in Serie A.”
