News of Marouane Fellaini’s ankle injury has reportedly seen Aurelio De Laurentiis block any bid from Napoli to sign him.

The Vesuviani were seen as closing in on a deal to sign the 26-year-old on an initial season-long loan deal.

In some reports the club were believed to have agreed financial terms with Manchester United for the move and were waiting for the player’s final ok.

However, the Belgium international’s injury suffered in training earlier this week has now seemingly ended the possibility of a move.

Whilst the extent of the injury is unknown, news of the player leaving United’s training ground on crutches and speculation that he has damaged ankle ligaments has apparently seen Napoli President De Laurentiis step in.

The movie mogul has, according to the Gazzetta dello Sport, vetoed any potential move for the midfielder.

Il Mattino reiterate this and also suggest alongside the Gazzetta that the Partenopei are already looking at other targets.

Fellaini is reportedly facing anything from four to six weeks out, according to speculation.
