Charles De Ketelaere is happy his Atalanta side beat Milan twice this season, but he has no hard feelings towards the Rossoneri and insists his future is not entirely up to him.
The Belgium international is out on loan at Atalanta, where he has scored seven goals and delivered five assists in 24 appearances across all competitions this season.
La Dea beat Milan twice this term, once in Serie A at the Gewiss Stadium and once in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals at San Siro.
La Gazzetta dello Sport asked CDK what he thought after beating his parent club twice this term.
“I didn’t think ‘You didn’t understand me’, but surely, when we beat Frosinone, I was not this happy. This is for sure. It was not a negative feeling, but I know what Milan represent and what it means to beat them.”
CDK is getting regular playing time in Bergamo and Atalanta can make his move permanent at the end of the season for €23m plus €4m add-ons.
Does he want to stay at his current club or return to San Siro in the summer?
“It’s January, so there is still time. Today, I think what will happen is not entirely up to me. I’ve been taught to only focus on things I can control, like the next training session and the next game and the fact that I am really happy to be here at Atalanta.”
De Ketelaere failed to justify his €36.5m price tag at Milan last season as he didn’t score a goal in 40 appearances with the Rossoneri.
During his interview with Gazzetta, he admitted that Gian Piero Gasperini has “changed his view on football” thanks to his tactical tips.
