The Rossoneri man suffered a season-long injury last term after signing from Manchester City, but after recovering from an Achilles tear the Netherlands international has told what he missed most.
“Another player may score a great goal or do a fine bit of skill,” he told NuSport. “But I prefer a tackle or recovering the ball.
“This aspect of the game is appreciated a lot more abroad than it is in the Netherlands.
“It is something that brings balance to the team and should be seen as a positive.
“I like to do the dirty work – that’s my role.”
