Albania Coach Gianni De Biasi felt they were “unlucky in the key moments” of their 1-0 defeat to Switzerland.
Their first match in a major tournament was scuppered by an early Fabian Schär header and captain Lorik Cana’s red card.
“It was a complicated match,” said the Italian tactician.
“In the first part of the game, we lacked the right mentality. I think we were feeling a little nervous and suffered the emotion of the occasion.
“We were also unlucky in the key moments, such as Cana’s red card and the wasted scoring opportunities, above all the one right at the end by Gashi.
“We conceded an absurd goal and there were some strange situations.”
Albania are now bottom of Group A with Romania, while France are top with Switzerland.
“France are the favourites, but today we played well. We wasted three big chances to score and will now work to improve in front of goal.”
