Matteo Darmian says he’s not thinking about his future, despite being linked with a move away from Torino.

The Italian international has been linked with the likes of Inter and Bayern Munich, but has refused to discuss his future this afternoon.

“I don’t know, now is not the right time to talk about it,” Darmian responded when asked about the issue in an Italy Press conference today.

“I’m thinking about doing well with the national team, then returning to Torino and finishing the season with the utmost commitment.

“Am I ready to step up to a big club? I don’t know, I’m just thinking about Saturday’s game [against Bulgaria].

“Was I right to stay at Torino after the World Cup? I think so, I don’t regret any of the choices I’ve made, they were part of my growth.

“I have to thank Torino. I’ve been there for four years and they’ve given me confidence, they didn’t put pressure on me and allowed me to develop calmly.”

The Granata enjoyed a fairytale Europa League campaign, narrowly missing out on the Quarter Finals after a 2-1 aggregate defeat to Zenit St Petersburg, and the 25-year-old says they did themselves proud.

“It was a dream for us, we had nothing to lose and we did our best. We came out on top [in the home leg] against Zenit and they can win the whole competition.

“It helped us grow, we felt the same even after the first leg against Zenit [a 2-0 defeat].

“It’s too bad we only scored in the 89th minute [in Turin], if we’d scored earlier we’d have really put them under pressure.

“We went out with our heads held high.”
