D’Anna: ‘We know the stakes’

Chievo Coach Lorenzo D’Anna admits his team ‘know how much rests on’ their match with Benevento today.

The Flying Donkeys head into their final game of the Serie A season just two points above the relegation zone.

Victory over the already doomed Streghe will guarantee survival for the Bentegodi club, while a draw is also likely to be enough.

Lose, however, and Chievo will be at the mercy of other results going their way in order to beat the drop.

“The first thing we said on Tuesday was that we would have to earn everything on the pitch,” D’Anna, who stepped up from Chievo’s Primavera set-up to take charge of the first team, told reporters.

“We need to go onto the pitch and play to win.

“We know how much rests on this match, we need to complete our journey and not undervalue anything.

“At the moment, I only see my boys as true protagonists of this brief journey we have had together.

“Chievo will only stay up if everyone is together. The support from our crowd will give us a great push and we need to repay it on the pitch.”
