Tottenham and Inter have also been tracking the Internacional striker, but his latest comments in the Sunday Mirror suggest the Partenopei have the upper hand.
“I know of Tottenham’s interest in me but I am happy to wait until the President of my club lets me know something official,” said Damiao.
“I would prefer to play in a team that is in the Champions League, but the most important thing is that they share the same ambition that I have.”
The arrival of Champions League and Europa League winner Rafa Benitez on the bench could also improve Napoli’s chances with Damiao.
