Former Lazio President Sergio Cragnotti believes the Biancocelesti can win the Scudetto this season under Vladimir Petkovic.
Cragnotti achieved that for only the second time in the club’s history when he took them to the Serie A title in 1999-00 before selling to Claudio Lotito on the verge of bankruptcy in 2004.
“I believe Lazio could reach the great target this year,” Cragnotti told RadioSei ahead of tonight’s match with Milan.
“There do not seem to be any insurmountable teams, as even Juventus are a good side but not unbeatable.
“The current Lazio can get great results if they believe in themselves. It depends on their consistency, their hunger and the locker room atmosphere. They have the players and the strength in depth.”
The Aquile are currently in third place and take on Milan this evening at the Stadio Olimpico.
“These are special games that everyone feels keenly, from the President and directors to the fans. In these head-to-head clashes you see the real character and combative spirit of a side.
“They are essential challenges for the championship and the final result this team can achieve. After all, there are only three places for the Champions League and there is a battle royal.
“Of course, the result in a head-to-head like this can take you from the stars to the gutter. If Milan were to do well and even win, then they’d relaunch their season instead.”
