Antonio Conte has asked the club to now strengthen the squad after he was handed a new contract at Juventus.

The tactician put pen to paper on a deal until 2015 yesterday, just weeks after leading the Old Lady to the Scudetto.

“My dream can continue and I thank the President,” the tactician, who arrived from Siena a year ago, told the club’s website. “This is a show of faith in me which fills me with joy and pushes me to do even better.

“The intention was always to build something here on a yearly basis so that we could return to the levels of the past.

“We were able to win the title this season and we’ll have a new challenge next term – to do well in Europe, but also confirm ourselves at home as that is always important.

“We were not tipped to do well at the start. People said we would finish sixth, but we had an extraordinary campaign and now we have the spotlight on us.

“Next season? You can’t start a term with the Scudetto shield on your chest and not be favourites, but we have an important base on which to build from.

“The majority of the squad will stay as it is. Now it is up to director general Beppe Marotta and the club to make this group even stronger.”

Juventus were unbeaten in their 38 League games, while they were defeated in the Italian Cup Final by Napoli on Sunday.
