Commisso: ‘Didn’t come here to lose’

Rocco Commisso has put pressure on coach Vincenzo Montella after watching Fiorentina go through a difficult spell. "I didn't come here to lose."

The Viola have lost four in a row in Serie A and their last win came against Cittadella in the Coppa Italia, and Commisso warned they now “need to win.”

“We move on,” the club’s President told Tuttomercatoweb reporters during a Christmas dinner with the team.

The Viola have lost four in a row in Serie A and their last win came against Cittadella in the Coppa Italia, and Commisso warned they now “need to win.”

“We move on,” the club’s President told Tuttomercatoweb reporters during a Christmas dinner with the team.

“I trust, and I have trusted, everyone. We continue from where we started. We will continue our journey and we need to win.”

Montella’s job seems insecure after a poor run of results, so will the match against Inter this weekend decide whether he stays or goes?

“Let’s take one day at a time. I didn’t talk to the team on the train. I greeted them and today I didn’t go to the training ground.

“They know that I didn’t come here to lose. I’ve never lost my whole life. I want to win something. I asked for time. It is up to us to bring the results.”

He couldn’t give any clear updates on the injury front but said Franck Ribery would most likely be absent this weekend and that German Pezzella could make it in time for the Inter game.

“I don’t know if Ribery will make it for Inter. Maybe Pezzella can make it for Sunday."

About the transfer market, Commisso admitted it would be difficult to sign the players he wants in January.

“I’m thinking about it. The January market is a very difficult market, because all of the players aren’t available. We need time to have a great journey.”
