Coentrao asks to join Inter?

Reports in Spain suggest Inter target Fabio Coentrao has asked to leave Real Madrid.

The Nerazzurri are believed to be on good terms with the Spanish club, having sold Mateo Kovacic to them this week, with reports at the time that they were also looking at Coentrao.

Now Cadena Ser is reporting that the full-back has told Los Merengues he wants to leave the club this summer, though it’s thought Madrid would be reluctant, with little time to find a replacement.

Gazzetta dello Sport has picked up on the story, and claims the Portuguese international is set on moving to Inter.

The newspaper believes that Coach Roberto Mancini has made it clear Coentrao would be his first-choice reinforcement in defence, urging the club to press forward with the transfer.

The Nerazzurri would guarantee the player first-team football, with the 27-year-old playing backup to Marcelo at Real Madrid.
