The Romanian is struggling with a right thigh problem that saw him replaced in Wednesday’s 2-1 Champions League home defeat to CSKA Moscow.

The former Roma player underwent treatment on Thursday, but there are fears that he may not be fit for Saturday’s San Siro clash against the Viola.

If he isn’t available then boss Claudio Ranieri will be forced to turn to Faraoni, a youngster who has made just two League appearances this season for a total of 70 minutes.

Ranieri is without possible left-back Javier Zanetti because of suspension, while Yuto Nagatomo may have to be used on the right in the absence of Douglas Maicon.

Andrea Ranocchia and Walter Samuel are expected to start in the middle as Lucio won’t be fit again until the start of 2012.
