Cristian Chivu doesn’t know where he will be playing next season – but Real Madrid haven’t been in touch with the Inter man.

The Romanian had been linked with the Spanish giants given that his contract with the Nerazzurri expires in the summer.

Speaking with calciomercato.it on Monday, the defender’s agent, Victor Becali, said he was unaware what the future would hold.

“There is nothing new to report,” Becali stated. “We’ve had no communication with Inter and no meeting has been planned with the Nerazzurri.

“There is still time to find a solution and we’ll see what the situation is in the summer. For now it is premature to say whether he will continue playing in Italy or move abroad.

“What is certain is that we haven’t been contacted by Real Madrid or their boss Jose Mourinho.

“The player is calm and relaxed. He has six months left on his contract and he’ll honour that by giving his best for the club.”

The international, who was bossed by Mourinho at San Siro, has also been linked with Manchester City, Napoli and Ajax – clubs who may be tempted by his Bosman status in June.

Chivu has mainly been used as a left-back during his Inter career rather than in his preferred centre-back position.

Napoli could be an attractive playing possibility for the 31-year-old seeing as boss Walter Mazzarri uses a three-man defence.
