Italy international Federico Chiesa gets his first start for Liverpool in the Carabao Cup game against West Ham United in what appears to be a wide right role.
It kicks off at Anfield at 20.00 UK time (19.00 GMT).
The Azzurri starlet had made his debut for the new club in the Champions League 3-1 victory away to Milan on September 17, then another slightly longer cameo in the 3-0 Premier League win over Bournemouth on September 21.
Coach Arne Slot makes nine changes from that Liverpool starting XI, including Chiesa stepping in for his first start.
Versatile Chiesa starts for Liverpool
There is curiosity to see where he will be playing, as the 26-year-old’s greatest strength has also been his weakness – so versatile that he is yet to find his best tactical role.
He is expected to start from the right in a supporting trio and then drift inside, but the overall approach remains to be seen.
As Chiesa was frozen out by Juventus in pre-season, this is his first start since the EURO 2024 defeat to Switzerland on June 29.
