Chelsea resist Cuadrado clause

Italian media remain adamant Chelsea will only take Juan Cuadrado from Fiorentina by paying his £26.5m release clause.

The Colombian’s agent Alessandro Lucci flew out to London this week for talks, but Sport Mediaset claim the Blues are not prepared to raise the initial £20.4m (€27m) offer.

In turn, Fiorentina have no intention of letting their star player go for less than the €35m (£26.5m) release clause in his contract.

Coach Vincenzo Montella told reporters after last night’s Coppa Italia win over Atalanta that there was “no possibility” of Cuadrado leaving in this transfer window.
