Chelsea consider Viola Tomovic

Antonio Conte and Chelsea are again looking to Serie A with an attempt to sign Fiorentina defender Nenad Tomovic.

According to the Daily Star newspaper, the Blues are eyeing up the versatile Viola figure for a January move.

Their first choices are Juventus star Leonardo Bonucci and Milan centre-back Alessio Romagnoli, but neither club is prepared to sell.

Conte’s focus is therefore drifting towards Fiorentina’s 29-year-old Serbia international Tomovic.

Conte’s focus is therefore drifting towards Fiorentina’s 29-year-old Serbia international Tomovic.

He can play in a three-man system or as a full-back on the right or left, effectively taking up any role in defence.

Tomovic only recently extended his Viola contract to June 2020 and has been in Italy since 2009 at Genoa, Lecce and now Fiorentina.

It’d be the second swoop at the Stadio Artemio Franchi for Chelsea, who already grabbed Marcos Alonso on transfer deadline day for €23m.

Tomovic would be considerably cheaper at around €8m.
