A decision by the Football League on whether to allow Massimo Cellino to complete his takeover of Leeds United is expected this week, report Corriere dello Sport.

The businessman has been trying to finalise a deal to buy the club from current owners GFH for weeks, only for English governing bodies to want further clarification from him on a number of issues.

With a decision expected imminently, the future will finally become clear not only for the English Championship side but also for Cellino’s current club, Cagliari.

The 57-year-old, it was confirmed recently, is still the President of the Sardinian club but has been seeking to sell up in order to concentrate on Leeds.

It is believed he has reached a deal to sell the Sardi to a consortium, though their identity still remains unknown.
