Catania to net Martinez loan?

Juventus flop Jorge Martinez is again being paired with a return to former club Catania.

The Uruguayan only left Sicily a year ago when the Old Lady agreed to pay €12m for his services.

Martinez had a problematic debut campaign in Turin though, a season hampered by poor form and injury.

The attacking midfielder appeared in just 14 Serie A games for the Bianconeri, for a total of only 563 minutes.

Having been paired with Fiorentina and Udinese this summer, it seems that Catania could now take him back.

According to speculation, Catania may accept the player on loan with an option to buy at the end of 2011-12.

Catania director Pietro Lo Monaco noted: "It's clear that Martinez's wages are high, but nothing is impossible."

Martinez earns €1.5m a season in Turin after tax, whereas Catania's Maxi Lopez is their top earner thanks to his €0.8m annual salary.
