Castrovilli fails Bournemouth medical – report

Reports on Saturday morning indicate that Fiorentina midfielder Gaetano Castrovilli has failed his medical with Bournemouth due to an issue with his knee.

Castrovilli had been expected to complete a move to the Premier League to play for the Cherries in a deal worth €12m plus add-ons, but the transfer now appears to be on the brink of collapse.

DAZN journalist Orazio Accomando reported on Saturday morning that Bournemouth were left unconvinced by the condition of Castrovilli’s knee, which was operated on just over a year ago.

The 26-year-old had suffered a serious injury to his anterior cruciate ligament, medial collateral ligament and the lateral meniscus in his left knee during a Serie A clash against Venezia in April 2022.

Following surgery and a lengthy rehabilitation process, Castrovilli did eventually return and registered 15 league appearances by the end of the 2022-23 season.

However, the nature of the injury and the current condition of his knee means that a move to Bournemouth may no longer happen.
