Antonio Cassano thinks Dusan Vlahovic made a mistake picking Juventus over Arsenal, Tottenham and Sevilla.
The 22-year-old Serbian striker completed his €80m move to the Bianconeri yesterday, and he’s set to earn €7m net per season until 2026. He was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal this month, but he reportedly ignored all offers apart from Juventus’, leaving Fiorentina with little choice.
Speaking on BoboTV, Cassano first commented on Vlahovic’s transfer to Juventus.
“Agnelli has made a sensational move that no one expected, but I am sure that Allegri will not change the way he plays. He’ll play in exactly the same way, this will be Juventus with Allegri on the bench.”
The former Roma and Real Madrid forward then suggested that Vlahovic made a mistake by picking the Bianconeri over the other interested clubs.
“In my opinion it’s resoundingly wrong. For the type of player I think he is, he would have needed an intermediate step, for example in teams like Arsenal, Tottenham, or Sevilla that signed Martial.
“Vlahovic can become a strong player, but this is a risky step, because he has to show more than he did at Fiorentina.
“He will have some difficulties, also because of the fact that Juve play badly obviously. In addition, I don’t see him matching well with the Juve environment, this is an idea I have. In short, it’s a risky investment both for Juve and for the player.”
The 22-year-old Vlahovic has been on fire this season in Florence under Vincenzo Italiano, scoring 17 goals in 21 Serie A games. He’s expected to be one of the main figures in the post-Cristiano Ronaldo era in Turin, and his arrival this month is especially important considering the serious injury to Federico Chiesa.
