Fabio Capello is confident Zlatan Ibrahimovic represents “a good signing for Milan” and has “more quality than any of his teammates.”
The 38-year-old arrived as a free agent from the LA Galaxy, agreeing a six-month contract with option to extend for another season.
“I think that Ibrahimovic is a good signing for Milan. He is a player who has character, who will step on to the field not just to participate, but to win. That acts as extra motivation for the others,” Capello told Rai 2 show Dribbling.

“I think that Ibrahimovic is a good signing for Milan. He is a player who has character, who will step on to the field not just to participate, but to win. That acts as extra motivation for the others,” Capello told Rai 2 show Dribbling.
“Obviously, as he hasn’t played for months, he’ll struggle to get into shape quickly, but has more quality than any of his teammates.”
It remains to be seen whether Ibrahimovic will play alongside Krzysztof Piatek or Rafael Leao.
“Ibrahimovic has this great capacity for making his teammates play better. Some players scored lots of goals when they were alongside him, then struggled after he left. I am above all talking about midfielders who push up from deep to go clear on goal.”
Capello was the first Italian coach to work with Ibra at Juventus when he made the move from Ajax in 2004.
“I tried to bring out the quality and talent that was within him, but he had struggled until then to truly bring to the fore.”
Milan will have real problems fighting their way into the top four in Serie A this season, though.
“Juventus and Inter both have what it takes to win the Scudetto, but I have to say the Roman clubs are doing very well too. Lazio in particular have no fear about going up against the favourites.”
