The former defender, now the Coach of Guangzhou Evergrande in China, played for both Parma and Juve in his career.
“Parma is a beautiful city and I grew up there with my family. The family grew so much that I had to move house five times in seven years, but we were happy,” smiled the World Cup and Ballon d’Or winner in La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“It fills me with enthusiasm to think of the Stadio Tardini packed out again for a Serie A match with Juventus, only three years after the bitterness of starting again in Serie D.”
The Ducali went bankrupt in 2015, but put together an all-time record three consecutive promotions to get back into Serie A.
“Parma have nothing to lose in a match like this, so who knows… Juve are so very strong and not just because of Cristiano Ronaldo. For example, I really like Emre Can.
“Max Allegri knows how to change his team based on the characteristics of the opponent and the current form of his players. It’s really difficult to surprise him.
“Juve are the favourites for the Scudetto and, if anything, the gap with the others has increased. It’s off the field too, as the other clubs haven’t improved their infrastructure the way Juve have, building a new training centre and forming a B Team, even a top women’s team.
“Juventus feel strong as a club and are not afraid to change. It wasn’t easy to end the rapport with Gigi Buffon and Claudio Marchisio, but the strength of the club carries them on.”
