Hugo Campagnaro joined Walter Mazzarri at Inter, but insists “it was a coincidence. I know him perfectly by now.”
The centre-back’s move to San Siro was considered by many as a clue to Mazzarri’s choice, but the former Napoli defender assures the negotiations were not linked.
“It is a coincidence that I find myself working with Mazzarri again, as I had already reached an agreement with Inter and didn’t know anything about his move,” said Campagnaro in today’s Press conference.
Not only did they work together at Napoli, but also before that at Sampdoria.
“I know Mazzarri perfectly by now, as this is my seventh pre-season training camp with him. I must try to help the others who have never had to assimilate those details before, as they are crucial.”
The Argentine was a free transfer after his contract was allowed to expire.
“In the last six months I gave my all to Napoli, as I wanted to leave a good memory with the fans after four fantastic seasons, but now I’m happy to be here at Inter.”
