Juventus CFO Francesco Calvo insists the Europa League play-off with Nantes brings no more pressure than usual, even if they ‘have to treat it as a final.’
It kicks off at 17.45 GMT and the first leg ended 1-1 in Turin, but away goals no longer count double.
“This is certainly an important game, and seeing as it is a knockout round, we have to treat it as a final,” Calvo told Sky Sport Italia.
“Our season is still long and it has to be taken one game at a time regardless, but also we are Juventus and therefore the pressure is always on us to provide the victory in any competition or situation.”
Federico Chiesa, Arkadiusz Milik, Fabio Miretti and Paul Pogba didn’t make the trip, but Dusan Vlahovic is benched in favour of Moise Kean.
“Pogba is training with the team, he played in the game between ranks, so he is recovered and we hope to see him on the field as soon as possible.”
Juventus continue to face legal battles within Serie A and have not yet formally lodged the appeal against their 15-point penalty for artificially inflating transfer fees to boost capital gains.
“The deadline is next week, so we will present the full appeal in the first few days of next week, within the parameters. At first, the effect of the penalty did shake us up, but the team has now settled and is fully concentrated on what to do on the pitch.
“We have been able to divide up the on and off field issues, so we each take care of our areas.”
If the 15-point penalty in Serie A is confirmed on appeal, then the best chance Juventus have of qualifying for the Champions League next season is winning the current edition of the Europa League.
