Calleri to Inter via Serie A loan?

Boca Juniors starlet Jonathan Calleri admits he’d “prefer Inter to Real Madrid or Barcelona,” so could arrive in Serie A via a minnow.

The striker had been on the verge of joining Palermo over the summer as a replacement for Paulo Dybala, but remained in Argentina.

He is now of strong interest to Chelsea, but Inter are looming large on the horizon and can promise more regular first team football.

“When I watch the Champions League at times I dream of being on the field. Inter are a club I like,” Calleri told soloboca.com.

In August Calleri had also commented “I don’t see myself at a club like Real Madrid or Barcelona. I prefer Inter.”

According to Sky Sport Italia, the Nerazzurri will make a move to sign Calleri in January, but cannot have him in the side due to the limits on non-EU players.

Instead, they’d buy him via another Serie A club, such as Chievo, Frosinone or Atalanta.

That spell would give him the opportunity to settle in Italy and cut off Chelsea’s chances of getting there first.

Boca Juniors President Daniel Angelici sent Calleri towards Serie A with this comment: “He will 99 per cent be sold to an English investment fund and then go to play in Italy.”
