Callejon: ‘Napoli still great’

Jose Maria Callejon said “Napoli are proving we are a great team even without Gonzalo Higuain” and welcomes Arkadiusz Milik.

Pipita scored a record-breaking 36 goals in 35 Serie A appearances last season, only to complete a €90m transfer to their arch rivals Juventus.

“We are fine and we know football is like this. Players come and go,” Callejon told Sky Sport Italia.

“We have to prove that we are a great team even without Pipita and that is what we are doing.”

Napoli came back from a goal down to flatten Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin 4-1 in a friendly on German soil yesterday.

Callejon was among those on target, while summer signing Milik got his first goal for the club.

“Milik arrived with a lot of hunger and he really wants to show what he can do. We need to give him a hand and help him score goals.

“We knew Hertha Berlin were at a more advanced stage of fitness training, but it was a good test to see how we’re doing. We must continue to work well.

“The important thing is to carry on what we did last season, when we played a fantastic campaign, even if we can still correct a few defects.”
