Calciopoli commissioner dies

Guido Rossi, the lawyer tasked with restoring order after the Calciopoli scandal of 2006, has died at the age of 86.

Rossi was appointed Extraordinary Commissioner of the FIGC after Franco Carraro stepped down shortly before the 2006 World Cup, which Italy ultimately won.

It was his committee that revoked Juventus’ title of 2005-06 and awarded it to Inter, amidst allegations of impartiality after it emerged that he was a member of the Nerazzurri’s board between 1995 and 1999.
