Cairo: ‘Always punished against Juventus’

Torino President Urbano Cairo believes “in the last 12 derbies, in at least eight we’ve had incidents where we’ve been penalised”.

The Granata were beaten by Juventus on Saturday night, but there was controversy after the hosts were denied what looked like a clear penalty, which wasn’t checked by VAR.

“I’ve already spoken about it,” Cairo said after receiving the Collare d'Oro from CONI.

“I’ve already spoken about it,” Cairo said after receiving the Collare d'Oro from CONI.

“I don’t even want to get involved, because I’ve already said what I thought. I know that there are objective difficulties relating to IFAB and protocol, I don’t want to add more pressure.

“When I talked about subjection to Juventus, I said it only because if you look at the last five years, in the last 12 derbies, in at least eight we’ve had incidents where we’ve been penalised.

“If it’s not subjection then it’s bad luck, but it always goes for them.”
