Cagliari have moved Sunday’s match with Atalanta to the Is Arenas rather than Trieste, but it will be played behind closed doors.
The home game was set to have been at the Is Arenas in Quartu Sant’Elena until Tuesday, when the stadium failed security checks.
It was shifted to the Stadio Nereo Rocco in Trieste, which is where Cagliari played their last few home ties in the 2011-12 season due to a dispute with the local council over the Stadio Sant’Elia.
However, late Friday night the Lega Serie A accepted an emergency request to move the fixture back to the Is Arena after all.
As it failed security checks due to the reconstruction work, the game will be played behind closed doors.
There had been rumours that the Cagliari squad were prepared to go on strike if they had to travel to Trieste for another ‘home’ tie.
