Caceres surgery successful

Martin Caceres’ surgery was successful, but the Juventus defender will still miss the rest of the season.

It was confirmed yesterday that the Uruguayan had ruptured his achilles tendon in the win over Genoa on Wednesday night, and would require surgery.

The operation was carried out this morning, but as expected the 28-year-old will miss the rest of the campaign.

“This morning at Turin’s Clinica Fornaca di Sessant, Martin Caceres underwent surgery on his right Achilles tendon after tearing it during Wednesday’s win over Genoa,” the Bianconeri confirmed in a statement on their official website.

“The operation was successfully carried out by professor Flavio Quaglia. The Uruguayan defender is expected to be out of action for five months.”
