Boss Simeone quits Catania

Diego Simeone is no longer the Coach of Catania after he rescinded his contract with the Sicilian club.

The Argentine decided to quit the outfit after just five months at the helm and despite keeping them in Serie A.

His exit was expected though and the split was settled last night after a meeting between the tactician and Catania chief Pietro Lo Monaco.

Simeone, formerly of Lazio and Inter as a player, surprisingly replaced Marco Giampaolo on January 19.

The 41-year-old is now being linked with a second stint on the Estudiantes bench, as well as being paired with Atletico Madrid – a club he appeared for as a player.

Former Lecce boss Gigi De Canio is being suggested as a possible replacement for Simeone at the Stadio Massimino.
