Leonardo Bonucci claims he wants to convince Giorgio Chiellini to play the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Italy won UEFA Euro 2020, beating England on penalties at Wembley Stadium.
After the game, Bonucci and Chiellini spoke to Sky Sport Italia and, at some point, Gigio Donnarumma joined them.
They were asked if Italy fans will be able to enjoy watching the same defensive partnership at the 2022 World Cup.
“Of course, of course…” replied Donnarumma, who had been named Player of the Tournament.
Bonucci seemed to be optimistic and claimed he would convince his teammate.
“I’ll convince him we are going on holiday together, so I will convince him no worries,” Bonucci said after receiving the MVP award.
Chiellini will soon sign a one-year contract extension with Juventus in the next few days but could retire after the 2021-22 campaign, so his presence at the upcoming World Cup is in doubt.
“I don’t even know if I’ll be able to run tomorrow, so calm…” Chiellini said, smiling.
“Leo and Gigio will be there for sure…”
