Bild: Werner set for Chelsea

German newspaper Bild claims that Chelsea are on the verge of signing Timo Werner from RB Leipzig, beating Inter, Juventus and Liverpool.

The 24-year-old striker has a €60m release clause in his contract, so it’s a matter of who is willing to offer the best personal terms and sporting project.

Liverpool had been the favourites for weeks, but are seemingly unwilling to pay the full release clause.

Liverpool had been the favourites for weeks, but are seemingly unwilling to pay the full release clause.

Inter then emerged as contenders, but only if Lautaro Martinez moved to Barcelona, while Juventus seem to have Napoli’s Arkadiusz Milik as their first choice.

It has apparently allowed Chelsea to dive in with a winning proposal for Werner.

Bild claim that he is ready to agree a five-year contract worth over €10m per year in wages.

The German centre-forward had scored 31 goals in 30 competitive games for RB Leipzig this season, along with 12 assists.
