Fiorentina have two reinforcements from England today, as Everton striker Beto and Leeds United’s Italy international Wilfried Gnonto arrived to undergo their medicals.
The Viola had waited for Joshua Zirkzee, but when realising the difficulties reaching an agreement with both Manchester United and above all the player, they turned towards Beto instead.
Beto and Gnonto arrive for Fiorentina
The former Udinese striker arrived this afternoon for his medical at the Viola Park camp outside Florence, ready to complete the €18m transfer from Everton.
Meanwhile, this evening Gnonto was also spotted at the same facility, where he saluted fans and media.
As the transfer deadline is tomorrow, and the medical centre is owned by Fiorentina, he was able to begin the tests late tonight to get the process started.
This is believed to be a loan for €1m with option to buy for another €15m at the end of the season.
“I can’t wait,” Gnonto told reporters including La Viola.
“I salute all the Fiorentina fans and I can’t wait to see you all.”
It is a return to Italian football for Gnonto, who never actually made his Serie A debut, despite coming up through the Inter youth academy.
The 22-year-old Italy international was sent to FC Zurich in 2020 and then sold to Leeds United in 2022, but was eager for his chance in Serie A.
