“We are optimistic, very motivated and eager to start what will be a decisive match. We are focused only on the three points,” said Bernat in his Press conference.

Juan Bernat confirms he had talks with Napoli this summer before choosing Paris Saint-Germain and sees their Champions League clash as “decisive.”

It kicks off on Wednesday at 19.45 UK time (18.45 GMT).

“We are optimistic, very motivated and eager to start what will be a decisive match. We are focused only on the three points,” said Bernat in his Press conference.

“Napoli are a team with a lot of quality. I already know Carlo Ancelotti well and he keeps his teams well-organised. He’s a great Coach who has won so many trophies and I’d underline his man-management.

“Marek Hamsik, Jose Callejon and their great defenders really stand out in the Napoli side. Tomorrow isn’t a final, but we know it could be worth as much and the two meetings with Napoli are crucial.”

PSG are joint second on three points in this group after a 3-2 opening defeat to Liverpool, whereas Napoli are on four points.

“We learned a great deal from our defeat to Liverpool and that was a turning point that helped us in the long run. I had a few fitness issues early on, as I was hurt last season, but I can do far better.”

Full-back Bernat left Bayern Munich for PSG over the summer at a cost of €5m, but had been close to the Partenopei.

“It’s true I had contact with Napoli this summer, but I chose to come to Paris. I have nothing more to say on the matter.”
