Fiorentina and Italy Under-21 international Federico Bernardeschi is in fine form, “but you must always try for more.”

The 20-year-old has benefited from the injury crisis in Florence to get more playing time, as Giuseppe Rossi, Mario Gomez and Joaquin are all sidelined.

“I think that I’ve been doing well for two years and every time I step on to the field I try to prove what I can do,” Bernardeschi told La Repubblica newspaper.

“For the moment I am happy with how things are going, but you must always try for more. I never settle. I am young and still have a lot to learn.

“This is going to be a long and difficult campaign, but Fiorentina are a great team and we can achieve important things both in Serie A and the Europa League. It’s just a shame that Rossi is out for so long.”

Bernardeschi has already formed an impressive partnership with Viola teammate Khouma Babacar, earning them the nickname B2.

“What did I say to Babacar after his goal against Inter? That he could’ve hit it a little softer!” he joked about that thunderbolt in a 3-0 victory.

“Babacar has great quality, we’ve known each other a long time and I am happy for him, as that was truly a fantastic goal.

“I haven’t scored yet in Serie A, but that is not a problem. I focus on playing well for the team and the important thing is that somebody finishes the moves off.”
