Inter legend Beppe Bergomi has welcomed the club’s sale to Indonesian businessman Erick Thohir.
The latter heads a group that now owns 70 per cent of the club after previous owner Massimo Moratti decided to sell.
“Life goes on,” the former Beneamata stopper told Radio Sportiva on Friday morning. “We should not be too nostalgic.
“Moratti has done a lot for this club in order to get consistent results and there was need for a change. And if he, someone who loves Inter, decided it then that is fine.
“Let us hope that Thohir is the right man,” the 1982 World Cup winner added. “I don’t know if he is a football expert or not, but he knows how to run sport so he’ll know how to do Inter’s books.”
Turning to on-the-field matters, Bergomi was optimistic for the season ahead following the arrival of boss Walter Mazzarri.
“I think they’ll be able to fight until the end of the campaign.
“Inter do need some alternatives on the flanks though. Jonathan and Yuto Nagatomo are having great seasons, but there are no substitutes for them in the squad.”
