“Clearly we have more confidence after winning two games with clean sheets,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“We have the right mentality, but need to be more in control against Torino. It will be difficult, as they keep the ball well and counter-attack even better. It will certainly be tough.

“Our tactical preparation was to tell the team to attack the way they know how, with pace. We want to be precise, but not hasty, because Torino pass the ball very well. They’ve had the same approach for three years and with vertical passes can quickly run into space.

“We must face this match with intelligence and precision, so with heads as well as hearts. Torino are back in Europe after many years and that could take something away in terms of concentration, but I think they deserve more than the five points they’ve got right now.

“If we all do our work well, then hopefully good luck won’t be necessary.”

Benitez has come under fire for his squad rotation system, but defended the practice.

“We have the right experience and resources to get the best out of the group throughout this season. Away from home or in Europe we always bring 19-20 players to avoid emergencies in case of problems, so a couple will always end up in the stands.

“Squad rotation is helpful and fundamental if we want to go far.”
