Napoli Coach Rafa Benitez has today said his side lack something of a balance following a string of poor recent results.
The Azzurri face a deficit in the Coppa Italia semi-final after a first leg to Roma and also have a fight on their hands to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
“It’s not easy at the moment, but we are on the right track,” reflected Benitez ahead of this Saturday’s game with Milan.
“I don’t like losing any games, but if we are going to lose any we must at least do so trying to play good football.
“We’re still missing some balance but we need to keep working with the same ideas.
“We must continue attacking, that’s our best quality, but also defend better.
“The league is the key to developing, we have a lot of games left and we can do it.
“We need to win on Saturday, then we will try to beat Roma and it will be the same for the games to come after that.
“Now we have a more balanced squad and we can make a high quality selection for every game.”
The Spanish tactician admitted his side face a stern test of their credentials when they take on Clarence Seedorf’s Rossoneri on Saturday.
Following a poor recent run of form, the Spanish tactician also insisted that the Azzurri are not in crisis and that they are continuing to develop as a team.
“Milan have players of the top level,” Benitez reflected at this pre-match Press conference. “Balotelli is one of those but there is also Robinho, Honda and others.
“They could make the difference but by keeping watch of one we can’t lose focus of the others.
“Seedorf wants to play an offensive brand of football that is attractive to fans.
Benitez also commented on the current condition of star player Marek Hamsik.
“After two months out with injury he needs a bit of time.
“He needs to continue working and get back to his level.”
Finally, the former Inter boss was asked whether there was any truth in rumours linking him with a move to Qatar.
“If they give me €10m a year, I’ll pack my bags,” joked Benitez. “I’m focused on the day-to-day things, it makes no sense to talk about these things.”
