Benitez: ‘Inter motivating’

Rafa Benitez finds it “very motivating” to face old club Inter with Real Madrid in the International Champions Cup.

The tournament continues on Monday afternoon with the Nerazzurri facing the Merengues in the Chinese city of Guangzhou.

“Playing here is different. Inter are an important club and it’s always very motivating to play against a big side like the Nerazzurri,” Benitez told Spanish paper As.

“Playing here is different. Inter are an important club and it’s always very motivating to play against a big side like the Nerazzurri,” Benitez told Spanish paper As.

“Both Karim Benzema and Luka Modric trained separately due to some physical problems. Tomorrow morning we will decide whether or not to use them.

“As a Coach, I’m happy to have players like James Rodriguez and Isco at my disposal, but they must work at 100 per cent and then I’ll decide.

“I’m very happy with the team because they’ve trained hard in Australia, helped by good facilities and a good temperature to work in.”

Benitez had a brief spell on the Inter bench after Jose Mourinho in 2010, but terminated the contract by mutual consent.

He took over at Real Madrid this summer following two years at Napoli.
