Group F also contains French outfit Marseille and Premiership boys Arsenal.
“We need to take advantage of the support at the Stadio San Paolo,” the Switzerland international commented on Tuesday.
“The group we are in is tough so we need to make the most of our home games.”
Borussia will provide a tough test for Rafael Benitez’s side, but Behrami believes the club’s summer transfer campaign means they can get a win against the German side.
“We’re hopeful,” he added. “We know what our qualities are. Borussia play with high rhythm, they leave little space and it will be tough. But they fear us and that must give us faith.
“The new faces? To have players in the squad who already have a winning mentality is important. We use them as examples.
“They go into games differently, they provide calmness which is key as tomorrow’s match will not be the last. We need to get used to playing these types of games regularly.”
The tie will also see a centre-forward battle between Gonzalo Higuain and Polish international Robert Lewandowski.
“Higuain and Lewandowski are two important players, but they both need the help of good teams. We need to work so Gonzalo can score goals and be dangerous as he has in the last few games.”
