BBC: West Ham agree fee to sign Sassuolo’s Scamacca

Premier League side West Ham United have agreed a €36 million fee to sign Gianluca Scamacca from Sassuolo, according to reports.

The Italy international had been heavily linked with French champions Paris Saint-Germain before a late bid from the east Londoners.

Reports on Friday suggested a deal was close and now the BBC report a fee of £30.5m (€36m) has been agreed between the two sides.

Italy international Scamacca joined Sassuolo from Dutch side PSV Eindhoven in 2017 and made his professional debut in October of that year at the age of 18.

Following loan spells at Cremonese, Ascoli and Genoa in Italy as well as PEC Zwolle back in the Netherlands.

He exploded onto the scene last season as he became Sassuolo’s main centre forward with 16 Serie A goals in 36 appearances.

Scamacca made his Italy debut in 2021 and, following the Azzurri’s failure to qualify for the 2022 World Cup, appears to have become coach Roberto Mancini’s first-choice attacker.
