Gabriel Batistuta warned he will only return to Rocco Commisso’s new-look Fiorentina if he is “of real use” to the club.

New owner Commisso confirmed he had approached Batigol for a role within the hierarchy of the side he represented in the 1990s, but “nothing has been decided yet.”

Now the Argentina international has spoken to Sky Sport Italia about the situation.

“There is a lot of enthusiasm and the change of ownership really gave everyone a boost. Commisso is someone who wants to really achieve something for Fiorentina. He won the fans over quickly, now he must decide what to do.”

When it came to the potential for a director’s role, Batistuta was hesitant.

“We have talked and said hello, but so far nothing more. We will certainly meet up again, but I don’t know how this story will end.

“What they want to do now is up to them, but if I am to come to Fiorentina, I want to be of real use.”
