The former Cagliari man sprained his right knee during the 3-0 win at Torino and a fragment of cartilage had become detached.
It was removed from the kneecap using keyhole surgery in Rozzano this morning.
A statement from Inter confirmed the operation was a success and he will begin rehabilitation over the next few days.
