Ballardini set for Bologna hotseat

Davide Ballardini is set to be announced as Bologna's new Coach, with the Rossoblu finalising Pierpaolo Bisoli's departure this evening.

Rumours began to circulate on Monday morning that Bologna were looking to replace Bisoli with one of Ballardini and Delio Rossi, after the club dropped to the bottom of the League on Sunday.

From five games played, the team have just one point and have scored just two goals, with neither of those coming from open play.

Marco Di Vaio, although positive of Bisoli's work, has previously hinted that there is a lack of self-belief from the dressing room that has been evident when they have fallen behind in games this season.

Bisoli was heavily critical of his players after Sunday's 2-0 defeat to Udinese, claiming their mistakes made the game an uphill task, before confirming that he too felt his future was up for debate by the club's directors.

Reports this evening now indicate that after Rossi declared himself out of the running that Ballardini is in prime contention to take the helm.

Bologna President Albano Guaraldi refused to comment this morning on Bisoli's future, only stating: "His dismissal? It is not confirmed, there is no news. I'm very busy."

However, it is now thought he is in discussions over the finer points of a two-year deal for former Palermo and Lazio Coach Ballardini.

The 47-year-old spent the last part of last season with relative success at Genoa before departing earlier than expected in the summer.

Whilst the announcement is expected to be made on Tuesday morning, reports are suggesting it will be a huge surprise if Ballardini is now not appointed as Bologna's next Coach.
