Babacar agent: Working on renewal

The agent of Fiorentina forward Khouma Babacar has reassured Viola fans that he is ‘working on’ a new deal for his client.

The agent of Fiorentina forward Khouma Babacar has reassured Viola fans that he is ‘working on’ a new deal for his client.

Babacar scored two goals for the Viola as they defeated Udinese 3-0 at the Artemio Franchi last night, and the Senegalese striker’s agent assured Viola fans the 21-year-old isn’t going anywhere.

“It’s a moment of huge satisfaction, at 21 he’s just scored his first double in Serie A,” Patrick Bastianelli told Tuttomercatoweb.

“The first was ‘ugly’ like Montella said, the second was a real striker’s goal.

“He’s not ‘the new Balotelli’, he’s a unique and special player and his name is Babacar.

“Now his goal is to get some consistency in his game, to be of benefit to Fiorentina and to reach important goals in a Viola shirt.

“His contract? The important thing is to stay focused on what he’s doing on the pitch, thinking only about Sampdoria on Sunday. As [Fiorentina sporting director Daniele] Prade said, we’re working on it.”

Babacar himself has also spoken of his desire to remain in Florence, saying he doesn’t envisage any problems in signing a new deal with the club.

“I don’t think there will be any problems [with my contract renewal]. I feel Florentine now, I’m part of this city.

“My priority when it comes to renewing my contract will be the club that now feels like my own, the club that allowed me grow by giving me so much in every respect.”
