Inter director Piero Ausilio reveals the only centre-back they really negotiated for was Shkodran Mustafi and “keeping Ivan Perisic was a great buy.”
The transfer window has now shut in Italy, so teams cannot sign any more players until January.
“We are convinced that we signed players who are suited to the project, as Inter have proved they are ready for the start of the season,” Ausilio told reporters.

The transfer window has now shut in Italy, so teams cannot sign any more players until January.
“We are convinced that we signed players who are suited to the project, as Inter have proved they are ready for the start of the season,” Ausilio told reporters.
“Many players arrived, others have left, the squad is homogenous. We liked the idea of focusing on youngsters, including with investments like Yann Karamoh.
“We decided to do something simple, because just making changes for the sake of it was not of interest, so when we saw that certain objectives were unattainable, we took Andrea Ranocchia off the market, although he had offers from England and Russia.
“Andrea is a lad who deserves consideration, so with him, Danilo D’Ambrosio, Vanheusden, Joao Miranda and Milan Skriniar, we are covered.
“There are no regrets, we did things that were functional to the project and compatible with our circumstances. We signed midfielders, we brought in Karamoh and another interesting young players like Skriniar, who is performing well.
“Keeping hold of Ivan Perisic was a great buy, really.”
Cristian Ansaldi has gone to Torino on a two-year loan with obligation to buy for €4m.
“Ansaldi had many offers, but Torino was considered the right option for us and the lad. Joao Cancelo should be back in a few weeks, so we’ve given the lad a chance to play regularly.”
No central defenders were signed, despite interest in Manchester City’s Eliaquim Mangala and Mustafi of Arsenal.
“The only negotiations we really entered into for a centre-back was Shkodran Mustafi, but when we saw his club’s demands, we let it go.”
